Opportunities Unlimited provides residential services to 38 adults who have sustained a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or other physical disability. The clients live in one of nine homes that line Glen Oaks Boulevard in Sioux City, Iowa.
Each home has been designed with the purpose, comfort, and dignity of the clients in mind. Each client has his or her own bedroom and private half bath. The community areas in each home include an accessible kitchen, full bathroom, and living room. Eight of the homes have four residents and one home houses six residents.
Clients are encouraged to participate, to the best of their ability, in all areas of residential living and therapies. With the assistance of staff, clients take part in meal preparation and help with household tasks. Re-learning these skills helps advance clients toward their goals of greater independence.
